Ingredients

Oreo Crust

  • 22 pieces regular Oreo cookies
  • 5 Tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Chocolate Mousse Layer

  • 2 bars unsweetened chocolate, coarsely chopped (4-ounce each)
  • 2 Tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 large egg whites
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 6 whole Oreos, crushed into crumbs

Whipped Cream

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 Tablespoon granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • optional chocolate curls or shavings for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven and prepare the Oreo crust by crushing the cookies and mixing with melted butter, then press into a pie dish and bake.
  2. Melt the unsweetened chocolate and butter together in a heatproof bowl.
  3. Prepare the meringue by heating egg whites, sugar, and cream of tartar over simmering water until the sugar dissolves, then whip until soft peaks form.
  4. Fold the meringue into the melted chocolate mixture.
  5. Whip heavy cream until stiff peaks form, then fold into the chocolate mixture carefully.
  6. Spread half of the mousse into the cooled crust, add crushed Oreos, then top with the remaining mousse, shaping it into a dome.
  7. Make the whipped cream topping by whipping cream with sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form, then spread over the mousse.
  8. Chill the pie for several hours before serving.
