Ingredients

The fruit filling

  • 2 medium Gala apples, sliced into ⅛" slices
  • 1 cup blueberries
  • 1 medium lemon, juiced
  • 2-3 tablespoons flour
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon

The crumble topping

  • ½ cup quick oats
  • 1 cup pecans, coarsely chopped
  • 6 tablespoons butter, at room temperature
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 pinch kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

The butter for baking dish

  • 1 tablespoon butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Butter a 3-quart baking dish.
  3. In a large bowl, combine sliced apples with lemon juice, sugar, flour, and cinnamon, then toss to coat.
  4. Add blueberries to the apple mixture and toss lightly.
  5. Transfer the fruit mixture to the prepared baking dish.
  6. In a medium bowl, mix oats, brown sugar, pecans, cinnamon, salt, and butter until clumps form.
  7. Spread the crumble topping evenly over the fruit mixture.
  8. Bake for 35-45 minutes until the topping is browned and the fruit is bubbling.
  9. Serve hot with ice cream or at room temperature.
