Ingredients

The meatballs

  • ¾ lb raw 99% lean ground turkey breast
  • ¼ cup plain bread crumbs
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 ½ teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon skim milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 sticks light string cheese, cut into 12 chunks

The dough

  • 1 cup self-rising white flour
  • 1 cup Fage 0% plain nonfat Greek yogurt
  • 1 large egg white, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. 1. Combine ground turkey, bread crumbs, Parmesan, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, milk, and egg in a bowl.
  2. 2. Form the mixture into 12 equal meatballs, placing a chunk of string cheese in the center of each.
  3. 3. Heat olive oil in a skillet and brown the meatballs for 5-6 minutes.
  4. 4. Allow the meatballs to cool, then preheat the oven to 400°F.
  5. 5. Mix self-rising flour and Greek yogurt to form dough, then knead and roll it out.
  6. 6. Cut the dough into 12 squares and wrap each meatball, sealing the edges.
  7. 7. Place the wrapped meatballs on a baking sheet, brush with beaten egg white, and sprinkle with Italian seasoning.
  8. 8. Bake for 20-22 minutes and serve warm with marinara sauce.
