Black Sticky Rice

Ingredients

The rice

  • 200 g black sticky glutinous rice
  • 5 cups water
  • 2 pieces pandan leaves

The sweetener and toppings

  • to taste sugar
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • ½ tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Rinse the black rice thoroughly until the water runs clear.
  2. Drain the rice and add it to a pot with water and pandan leaves.
  3. Cover and bring to a boil over medium to low heat for about 60 minutes.
  4. Lower the heat to simmer and continue cooking until the rice is soft.
  5. Add sugar to taste and stir to combine.
  6. In a separate pot, heat the coconut milk with salt and stir well.
  7. Serve the black sticky rice in bowls topped with coconut milk.
