Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325°F and line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a heat-proof bowl over simmering water, combine butter, granulated sugar, powdered sugar, cocoa powder, espresso powder, and salt until melted and mixed.
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly, then add water, vanilla, and eggs one at a time, stirring until shiny.
- Mix in the all-purpose and whole wheat flour until just combined, then fold in the chocolate chips.
- Transfer the batter to the prepared pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until a toothpick comes out mostly clean.
- Let cool completely in the pan before lifting out and cutting into squares.
