Carne Asada Fries

Ingredients

Marinade

  • ½ cup orange juice
  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup lemon juice
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon ground chipotle chili pepper
  • ½ bunch fresh cilantro

Meat

  • 1½ to 2 pounds skirt, flank, or flap steak

Carne Asada Fries

  • 1 28-ounce bag frozen fries
  • 1 to 2 cups shredded cheese
  • 1 cup pico de gallo
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ½ cup guacamole
  • 1 jalapeno sliced
  • optional chopped cilantro

Instructions

  1. Combine all marinade ingredients and marinate the meat for at least 4 hours, ideally up to 24 hours.
  2. Preheat the broiler and cook the marinated meat on a foil-lined baking sheet for 4 to 6 minutes per side until desired doneness.
  3. Let the meat rest for 10 minutes before slicing it against the grain.
  4. Bake the frozen fries according to package instructions until just done.
  5. Set the oven to 350°F and pile the cooked fries in a skillet or on a baking sheet.
  6. Top the fries with carne asada and cheese, then return to the oven until the cheese melts.
  7. Add pico de gallo, sour cream, guacamole, cilantro, and jalapenos before serving.
