Ingredients

The ribs

  • 3 – 4 lbs country style ribs

The aromatics

  • 1 large sweet onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped

The spice blend

  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 2 teaspoons cumin
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

The sauce

  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • ½ cup chicken broth

Instructions

  1. Combine the chili powder, kosher salt, cumin, dried oregano, black pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder in a bowl.
  2. Rub the spice blend into the country-style pork ribs and let them sit for 15-30 minutes.
  3. Spray the bottom of the slow cooker with cooking spray and add the chopped onions and garlic.
  4. Place the seasoned ribs on top of the onions in a single layer if possible.
  5. Pour the barbecue sauce and chicken broth over the ribs.
  6. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 3-4 hours until the ribs are tender.
  7. Remove the ribs from the sauce and keep warm under aluminum foil.
  8. Skim excess fat from the sauce, then heat it in a saucepan until thickened.
  9. Brush the ribs with the heated barbecue sauce and serve.
  10. For crispy ribs, broil them for 3-5 minutes before serving.
