Ingredients

The ribs

  • 3 lbs country-style pork ribs

The dry rub

  • 2 teaspoon coarse sea salt or kosher salt
  • 2 teaspoon light brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 2 teaspoon sweet paprika or smoked paprika
  • 2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

The sauce

  • 1 cup barbecue sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 250°F.
  2. Mix the dry rub ingredients in a bowl.
  3. Season the ribs with the dry rub and place them in a baking dish or on a foil-lined sheet pan, fatty side up.
  4. Cover the pan tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 2 to 2¼ hours until the internal temperature reaches 195-205°F.
  5. Remove the foil and coat the ribs with barbecue sauce, then return to the oven uncovered for another 30 minutes.
  6. For a crisp exterior, broil the ribs for 3-5 minutes.
  7. Remove from the oven, brush with more barbecue sauce, and let rest for 15 minutes before serving.
