Slow Cooker Apple Cider

brown sugar (or desired sweetener)
Instructions
- Wash and quarter the apples and orange, leaving peels, seeds, and stems intact.
- Place the fruit in the slow cooker and add cinnamon sticks, nutmeg, cloves, and allspice.
- Fill the slow cooker with water until nearly full, leaving about ½ inch of space at the top.
- Cook on high for 3-4 hours or on low for 6-8 hours.
- About an hour before cooking is complete, mash the softened fruit to release more juice.
- Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer or cheese cloth into a clean pitcher or pot.
- Stir in the desired amount of sweetener until dissolved.
- Serve hot or refrigerate for up to 5 days, reheating before serving.
