Ingredients

  • 3 cups old fashioned oats, toasted
  • ½ cup flax seeds
  • 1 cup almonds
  • 1 cup water
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons milk or cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon grapeseed oil (or vegetable oil, olive oil, or melted coconut oil)
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 300°F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the toasted oats, flax seeds, and almonds.
  3. In a small saucepan, add the water and sugar, bringing it to a boil and then simmering until it turns amber.
  4. Carefully add the milk or cream to the caramel and stir until smooth, then add vanilla.
  5. Pour the caramel mixture over the oats and almonds, mixing to coat.
  6. Heat honey and oil in the saucepan until blended, then add to the oat mixture and mix well.
  7. Spread the mixture evenly on the baking sheet and sprinkle with sea salt.
  8. Bake for about 30 minutes and let cool completely before breaking into clusters.
