Slow Cooker Cranberry Sauce

Ingredients

The sauce

  • 12 ounces fresh cranberries
  • ½ cup orange juice
  • ½ cup water
  • cup maple syrup or preferred sweetener

Optional add-ins

  • splash bourbon or red wine
  • to taste orange zest
  • pinch ground ginger
  • pinch cinnamon
  • pinch cloves
  • some chopped walnuts
  • splash vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients in the slow cooker and stir well.
  2. Cook on high for 3-4 hours or on low for 7-8 hours until cranberries pop and sauce is bubbly.
  3. Taste and adjust sweetness or add optional ingredients as desired.
  4. Serve warm, noting that the sauce will thicken as it cools.
