Ingredients

The waffles

  • cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • tsp ground ginger
  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp ground cloves
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk (whole or 2%)
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 6 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 3 Tbsp unsulphured molasses

The cream cheese glaze

  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • cups powdered sugar
  • 3-4 Tbsp milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the waffle iron.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and spices.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs and then add the milk, sour cream, melted butter, brown sugar, and molasses.
  4. Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients until just mixed.
  5. Spray the waffle iron with non-stick spray.
  6. Pour the batter into the waffle iron and cook according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  7. Serve the waffles with cream cheese glaze.
