Ingredients

The filling

  • 1 can tuna
  • 2 ribs celery, finely diced
  • ΒΌ red onion peeled and finely minced
  • 3 tablespoons minced dill
  • 1 lemon juiced
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • to taste Kosher salt
  • to taste freshly ground pepper
  • 1 tomato sliced and salted

The bread

  • 2 slices bread of choice (sourdough recommended)
  • 2 slices Colby Jack cheese (or cheese of choice)
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, at room temperature

Instructions

  1. Prepare the tomato slices by placing them on paper towels and sprinkling with salt to release moisture.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the celery, red onion, dill, tuna, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, mayonnaise, black pepper, and salt. Mix well.
  3. Butter two slices of bread and flip them over.
  4. Spread the tuna mixture on one slice of bread, top with tomato slices and cheese, then add the other slice of bread.
  5. Heat a pan over medium heat and place the sandwich in it.
  6. Cook until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted, about 2 to 3 minutes per side.
  7. Slice the sandwich in half and enjoy.
