The barbecue sauce

Instructions
- Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs and cut them in half if necessary.
- Rinse and dry the ribs, then rub the spice mixture over both sides.
- Pour ½ cup of water into the slow cooker and place the ribs over the water.
- Cover and cook on low for 6 ½ to 7 hours until very tender.
- Prepare the barbecue sauce by mixing all sauce ingredients in a saucepan and simmering for 15 minutes.
- Once cooked, carefully transfer the ribs to a wire rack over a baking sheet.
- Brush the ribs with about ½ cup of barbecue sauce and broil for 2-3 minutes on each side to caramelize.
