Ingredients

  • ¼ cup whole wheat flour
  • cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 2/3 cups lukewarm water
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons active-dry yeast
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. Combine the flours and salt in a stand mixer or knead by hand.
  2. Mix the lukewarm water, sugar, and yeast in a small bowl and let it sit until bubbly.
  3. Add the olive oil to the yeast mixture and stir.
  4. Gradually add the yeast mixture to the flour mixture while kneading until the dough is firm and smooth.
  5. Divide the dough into four balls and place them on oiled parchment paper.
  6. Cover the dough balls with plastic wrap and let them rise until doubled in size, about two hours.
  7. Roll out each dough ball on a floured surface until thin.
  8. Preheat the oven to 500ºF and prepare a sheet pan with parchment paper.
  9. Place the rolled dough on the parchment, drizzle with olive oil, and add toppings.
  10. Bake for about 10 minutes until the crust is brown and the cheese is melted.
