Ingredients

The topping

  • 2 cups blanched almond flour
  • ¼ teaspoon celtic sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ¼ cup salted butter or palm shortening
  • ¼ cup maple syrup or honey

The filling

  • 3 pounds apples, peeled and sliced

Instructions

  1. Combine almond flour, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a large bowl.
  2. In a small bowl, mix butter and maple syrup.
  3. Stir the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients.
  4. Place the sliced apples in a 2-quart baking dish.
  5. Crumble the topping over the apples.
  6. Cover and bake at 350°F for 50 minutes on the low rack.
  7. Remove the cover and bake for an additional 10 minutes to brown the crisp.
  8. Serve warm.
