Ingredients

The ribs

  • 2 racks baby back ribs

The liquid

  • 1 ¼ cup water
  • ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon liquid smoke

The aromatics

  • 1 whole yellow onion, cubed
  • 3 whole garlic cloves

The BBQ sauce

  • 1 cup BBQ sauce

The spice rub

  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground pepper

Instructions

  1. Remove the membrane from the ribs.
  2. Prepare the spice rub and apply it to both sides of the ribs.
  3. Add water, apple cider vinegar, and liquid smoke to the Instant Pot.
  4. Place the wire rack in the pot and curl the ribs inside with the meat side facing out.
  5. Top with cubed onion and garlic.
  6. Secure the lid and cook on Pressure Cooker mode for 25 minutes.
  7. Allow the pressure to naturally release for 10 minutes, then quick release the rest.
  8. Preheat the oven to Broiler HIGH and line a baking sheet with foil.
  9. Remove the ribs from the Instant Pot and place them on the baking sheet.
  10. Slather the ribs with BBQ sauce and broil for 2-3 minutes before serving.
