Instructions

  1. Fill a large pot about 3/4 full with water and bring it to a rolling boil.
  2. Carefully slip the eggs into the boiling water using a slotted spoon.
  3. Maintain a gentle boil and set a timer for 12 minutes for hard-cooked yolks, or 10 minutes for softer yolks.
  4. While the eggs are boiling, prepare an ice bath in a medium bowl with ice and water.
  5. Once the timer goes off, transfer the eggs immediately to the ice bath and let them sit for 10 minutes.
  6. After cooling, the eggs are ready to be peeled or stored in the refrigerator.
