Baked Apples and Pears with Thyme and Maple

Ingredients

The fruit

  • 2 large apples, cored and quartered
  • 2 large pears, cored and quartered

The sauce

  • 1 tablespoon grapeseed oil or oil of choice
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 inch ginger, thinly sliced
  • 1 stick cinnamon, broken in half
  • 4 sprigs fresh thyme
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  2. Heat oil in a Dutch oven or oven-safe skillet over medium heat.
  3. Spread apples and pears in a single layer, flesh-side down, and cook until golden brown, about 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in maple syrup, ginger, cinnamon, thyme, and salt.
  5. Cover and transfer to the oven.
  6. Bake for about 30 minutes, until the fruit is tender and aromatic.
  7. Transfer to a serving dish and garnish with additional thyme if desired.
