Ingredients

  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons plain whole milk yogurt

Instructions

  1. Heat the milk to 180 degrees Fahrenheit, then let it cool to 110-115 degrees.
  2. Set up a cooler with a bath towel inside and a pot of boiling water in the middle.
  3. Pour the warm milk into a large glass container and add the yogurt, stirring to combine.
  4. Place the glass container in the pot of water in the cooler and close the cover.
  5. Let it sit for 6 hours, then replace the water with fresh boiling water and let it sit for another 6 hours.
  6. After 12 hours, check the yogurt; if it's not ready, replace the water again and let it sit for an additional 6 hours.
  7. Once ready, chill the yogurt in the freezer for 20 minutes to thicken.
  8. Strain the yogurt through a cheesecloth to achieve the desired consistency.
