Ingredients

The seasoning

  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 2 teaspoons sweet paprika
  • 1 ½ teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¾ teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon dried thyme
  • ¼ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ¼ teaspoon dried basil
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper

The salmon

  • 4 fillets salmon
  • 1 ¼ lbs salmon fillets
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon parsley

For garnish

  • to taste parsley sprigs
  • to taste lemon wedges

Instructions

  1. Combine all the seasoning ingredients in a bowl and mix well.
  2. Brush melted butter over the salmon fillets and coat with the seasoning mixture.
  3. Heat a cast iron skillet over high heat and add vegetable oil.
  4. Place the salmon in the skillet, skin side up, and cook for 3-4 minutes until a dark crust forms.
  5. Flip the salmon, reduce heat to medium-high, and cook for an additional 7-8 minutes until the fish flakes easily.
  6. Sprinkle with parsley and serve with lemon wedges and parsley sprigs.
