Ingredients

The dough

  • 1 pound hot dogs
  • 1 ½ cups mozzarella cheese
  • 2 oz cream cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 ¼ cups almond flour
  • 2 tablespoons whey protein powder
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda

The topping

  • 1 large egg (beaten with 2 teaspoons of water)
  • to taste none sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F and prepare a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
  2. Dry the hot dogs with a paper towel and prepare the egg wash by beating the egg with water.
  3. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine mozzarella and cream cheese, then microwave for 1½ minutes and stir until melted.
  4. Add the melted cheese mixture and egg to a food processor, blend until smooth.
  5. Incorporate the dry ingredients into the cheese mixture, processing until a sticky dough forms.
  6. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and freeze while the oven preheats.
  7. Divide the dough into 8 portions, roll each into a snake around each hot dog, leaving some ends exposed.
  8. Place the wrapped hot dogs on the prepared cookie sheet and brush with egg wash, sprinkling with sesame seeds if desired.
  9. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown.
