Ingredients

The dough

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 11 oz mini chocolate chips
  • 4 oz chocolate bar, chopped finely

For sprinkling

  • to taste sea salt

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, beat together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until creamy. Add the eggs and vanilla, and beat until smooth.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients until a dough forms.
  4. Stir in the mini chocolate chips and chopped chocolate bar.
  5. Split the dough in half and wrap each half in plastic wrap, forming them into log shapes about 16 inches long.
  6. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  7. Preheat the oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  8. Slice the chilled dough into ½ inch pieces and place them on the baking sheet.
  9. Bake for 9-11 minutes or until slightly golden brown. Let cool on a wire rack and sprinkle with sea salt.
