Ingredients

The brownies

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 ¼ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 ¼ cups Dutch-process cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoons sea salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

The sauce

  • 1 cup Salted Caramel Sauce
  • extra optional salted caramel sauce for serving
  • extra optional ice cream for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 12-inch cast iron skillet.
  2. Melt the butter in a large saucepan over medium heat, then stir in the sugar until combined.
  3. Return to heat and stir until the mixture is smooth and shiny.
  4. Remove from heat and mix in the cocoa, baking powder, salt, and vanilla extract.
  5. Whisk in the eggs until the mixture is smooth.
  6. Add the flour and chocolate chips, stirring until just combined.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared skillet and drizzle salted caramel sauce on top, swirling it gently.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  9. Cool completely before cutting and serve with ice cream and additional caramel sauce if desired.
