Ingredients

The nuts

  • 8 ounces walnut halves

The coating

  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup packed light brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg white
  • 1 teaspoon water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 300°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt until combined.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk the egg white with the water until frothy.
  4. Add the walnut halves to the egg white mixture and toss to coat evenly.
  5. Pour the cinnamon sugar mixture over the walnuts and stir until they are well coated.
  6. Spread the walnuts in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, stirring halfway through, until the coating has hardened.
  8. Allow to cool completely before storing in an airtight container.
