Ingredients

The French Toast

  • 4 pieces eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 loaf brioche bread, sliced 1-inch thick

Toppings

  • to taste maple syrup
  • to taste fresh berries

Instructions

  1. Preheat a large, nonstick skillet or griddle over medium-low to medium heat.
  2. Whisk eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt in a large shallow bowl.
  3. Melt a tablespoon of butter in the preheated skillet.
  4. Dip each slice of brioche into the egg mixture, coating both sides.
  5. Add the coated brioche to the skillet when the butter has melted and begun to foam.
  6. Toast each side until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  7. Transfer the French toast to a baking sheet and keep warm in a low oven.
  8. Continue toasting the remaining bread and egg mixture, adding more butter as needed.
  9. Serve warm with powdered sugar, whipped cream, maple syrup, fresh fruit, or any desired toppings.
