Ingredients

The oats

  • 1 cup steel cut oats

The liquids

  • 4 cups water
  • 2 cups milk

The flavorings

  • 2 large mashed ripe bananas
  • 3 tablespoons ground flaxseed meal
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt

Toppings (optional)

  • to taste chopped toasted walnuts
  • to taste raisins
  • to taste chocolate chips
  • to taste maple syrup
  • to taste peanut butter

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients except toppings in the slow cooker.
  2. Stir to mix well.
  3. Cover and cook on low for 7-8 hours or on high for 4 hours.
  4. Stir to combine after cooking.
  5. Serve warm with desired toppings.
