Ingredients

  • ¾ cup warm water
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour or bread flour
  • 1 Tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil for brushing
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder or 1 clove minced garlic (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning (optional)

Instructions

  1. 1. Whisk the yeast, sugar, and warm water together and let it sit until foamy.
  2. 2. Mix in the flour, olive oil, and salt until combined.
  3. 3. Knead the dough for 6-8 minutes until soft and slightly sticky.
  4. 4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 45 minutes.
  5. 5. Preheat the oven to 475°F (246°C).
  6. 6. Punch down the dough, divide it in half, and shape each piece into a flatbread about ¼ inch thick.
  7. 7. Brush each flatbread with olive oil and add your favorite toppings.
  8. 8. Bake for 15-20 minutes until the crust is browned.
