Instructions
- Combine the bread flour, oats, kosher salt, and shortening in a medium bowl and set aside.
- In a large bowl, mix warm water and yeast and let it stand for a few minutes.
- Add the egg, molasses, and half of the flour mixture to the yeast mixture and mix until smooth.
- Add the remaining flour mixture and mix again until smooth.
- Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size.
- Grease a loaf pan and gently press down the dough in the bowl.
- Spread the dough into the prepared pan and let it rise until it reaches near the top of the pan.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F and bake for 40-50 minutes until browned and hollow when tapped.
- Remove from the pan, let cool, slice, and serve.
