Ingredients

The base

  • 1 sleeve salted Saltine crackers
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup packed dark or light brown sugar

The toppings

  • 6 Tablespoons creamy peanut butter
  • 2 ½ cups semi-sweet, milk, or white chocolate chips
  • 1 cup M&Ms

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (204°C) and prepare a half-sheet pan with cooking spray or line it with a silicone baking mat or parchment paper.
  2. Arrange the Saltine crackers in a single layer on the prepared pan.
  3. In a saucepan, combine the butter and brown sugar, bringing it to a boil over medium heat without stirring for 3 minutes.
  4. Pour the boiling mixture evenly over the crackers and bake for 5 minutes.
  5. Melt the peanut butter in the microwave, then pour it over the warm toffee and smooth it out.
  6. Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the top and return the pan to the oven for 1 minute to help the chocolate melt.
  7. Spread the melted chocolate into an even layer and top with M&Ms.
  8. Refrigerate the toffee for 2 hours until set, then break into pieces.
