Ingredients

For the Spicy Mayo

  • 1 cup Whole30-compliant mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon chipotle chili powder

For the Burgers

  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20 preferred)
  • 2 strips bacon (uncooked, finely diced)
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • 2 teaspoons dried onion flakes
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

To Serve (All Optional)

  • to taste tomato slices
  • to taste lettuce
  • to taste thinly sliced red onion
  • to taste portobello mushroom 'buns'

Instructions

  1. Combine mayonnaise and chipotle powder in a small bowl and whisk until combined; set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, mix ground beef, diced bacon, sea salt, dried onion flakes, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper until just combined.
  3. Shape the mixture into four quarter-pound hamburger patties.
  4. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and cook the patties for 3 to 4 minutes on each side until desired doneness is reached.
  5. Serve the burgers with spicy mayo and optional toppings between lettuce leaves or portobello mushroom 'buns'.
