Milk Chocolate Dulce de Leche Bars

Ingredients

The crust

  • 1 stick unsalted butter
  • 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon sea salt

The filling

  • 1 14 ounce can sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 tablespoons softened butter
  • 1 tablespoon light corn syrup

The topping

  • 1 bag milk chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. 1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and grease a 9x13 pan.
  2. 2. In a large bowl, combine coconut, flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. 3. Melt the butter in a saucepan over low heat and pour it over the dry mixture, mixing until crumbly.
  4. 4. Press the mixture into the prepared pan and bake for 15-18 minutes until golden brown.
  5. 5. In another saucepan, heat sweetened condensed milk, butter, and corn syrup over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes until deep beige.
  6. 6. Pour the filling over the cooled crust and bake for an additional 12-14 minutes until light golden brown.
  7. 7. Cool completely or until the filling has set.
  8. 8. Melt the chocolate chips in a double boiler and pour over the bars, spreading evenly.
