Ingredients

  • 1-2 pound unsalted organic butter
  • 1 piece cheese cloth

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter completely in a medium saucepan over low heat.
  2. Scoop out any foam that settles at the top or wait to do it later.
  3. Continue melting on low heat for about 10-15 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat when you see toasty brown bits at the bottom.
  5. Pass the melted butter through a cheese cloth or sieve.
  6. Remove any remaining foam from the top.
  7. Store the ghee at room temperature for up to 6 months or more.
