Baked Nutella Doughnuts with Nutella Glaze

Ingredients

The doughnuts

  • 1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 ¼ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 3 Tbsp packed light-brown sugar
  • cup Nutella
  • 3 Tbsp butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup milk

The glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 ½ Tbsp Nutella
  • 4 - 6 tsp milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • to taste optional chopped, toasted hazelnuts or sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix the granulated sugar, light-brown sugar, Nutella, and butter until blended.
  4. Add the egg and vanilla to the sugar mixture and mix well.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture and milk in three alternating batches, starting and ending with the flour mixture.
  6. Fill the greased doughnut pans about ¾ full with the batter.
  7. Bake for 7 to 9 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Let the doughnuts cool for 5 minutes before removing from the pans.
  9. In a bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, Nutella, milk, and vanilla for the glaze until smooth.
  10. Spread the glaze over the cooled doughnuts and top with optional sprinkles or hazelnuts.
