Oven Baked French Fries

Ingredients

The fries

  • lbs Russet Potatoes

The seasoning and oil

  • ¼ cup vegetable oil or peanut oil
  • to taste none salt
  • ¼ tsp freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 475°F.
  2. Soak the potatoes in hot tap water for 10 minutes.
  3. Drizzle oil onto a baking sheet and tilt to coat evenly.
  4. Drain the potatoes and dry them thoroughly with paper towels.
  5. Sprinkle the baking sheet with salt and pepper.
  6. Spread the potatoes in an even layer on the baking sheet.
  7. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 5 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and continue baking until golden brown, about 15 minutes.
  9. Turn the potatoes to the opposite side and bake for an additional 7-10 minutes.
  10. Drain on paper towels and season with additional salt if desired.
