Ingredients

The base ingredients

  • 1 cup roasted macadamia nuts
  • 1 cup roasted cashews
  • 1 each lemon, juice of
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, peeled
  • 20 leaves fresh basil
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp sea salt
  • cup water

Optional ingredients

  • 1 jar roasted peppers, drained

Instructions

  1. Combine the nuts, lemon juice, olive oil, garlic, basil, smoked paprika, and sea salt in a food processor and pulse to break up the nuts.
  2. If using, add the roasted peppers.
  3. Add about ⅓ cup of water and process until smooth, scraping the sides as needed.
  4. Adjust the consistency with more water if it's too thick.
  5. Taste and adjust seasoning with more lemon juice or sea salt if desired.
  6. Serve immediately or store in the refrigerator for up to a week.
