Ingredients

The chicken

  • 1.5 lbs skinless chicken breasts
  • ¼ cup flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

The sauce

  • 1 tsp arrowroot powder or cornstarch
  • cup reduced sodium soy sauce
  • ½ cup honey
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger or 1 tsp dried ginger
  • 1 tsp sriracha
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder

Toppings and sides

  • to taste sesame seeds
  • to taste spicy mayo
  • to serve rice
  • to serve broccoli

Instructions

  1. Prep the chicken by cutting it into small bite-sized pieces.
  2. Toss the chicken in a large bowl with flour, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
  3. Heat a large sauté pan over medium heat, add olive oil, and once hot, add the chicken. Cook until just no longer pink, about 6-7 minutes, stirring every minute.
  4. While the chicken is cooking, whisk together the arrowroot and soy sauce, then whisk in the honey, sesame oil, rice vinegar, minced garlic, ginger, sriracha, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  5. Once the chicken is cooked, lower the heat to medium-low and pour in the sauce. Stir until the chicken is coated and let it simmer for about 5 minutes or until the sauce has thickened to your desired consistency.
  6. Serve the chicken over rice and broccoli, topped with sesame seeds and spicy mayo.
