Ingredients

The chicken

  • 2 medium boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • pinch red pepper flakes (optional)

The sauce

  • cup honey
  • ¼ cup water
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon water (for cornstarch slurry)

Instructions

  1. Slice each chicken breast into 2 cutlets.
  2. Toss the chicken in flour and salt, then sear in a skillet until golden brown.
  3. Remove the chicken and melt butter in the same pan.
  4. Add garlic and optional red pepper flakes, cooking until golden.
  5. Stir in honey, water, soy sauce, vinegar, and cornstarch slurry, then bring to a simmer.
  6. Return chicken to the pan, cover, and cook until done.
  7. Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving with sauce.
