Ingredients

The cabbage steaks

  • 1 large cabbage
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper

Optional toppings

  • to taste chopped pecans
  • to taste parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180C/350F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, melted butter, and minced garlic.
  3. Slice the cabbage lengthwise into 1-inch thick 'steaks' and remove any excess leaves.
  4. Brush the tops of each cabbage steak with the garlic butter mixture and season with salt and pepper.
  5. Transfer the cabbage steaks to the lined baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden and crisp.
