The glaze

powdered sugar

Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare an 8x8-inch baking pan.
- In a mixing bowl, beat the butter and sugar until creamy.
- Add eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract.
- Combine baking powder and salt, then gradually add the flour while mixing.
- Reserve ½ cup of the dough for topping and spread the rest in the prepared pan.
- Mix sliced almonds into the reserved dough and set aside.
- Spread the cherry pie filling over the dough, then drop spoonfuls of the reserved dough on top.
- Bake for 50 to 55 minutes until golden and set, then cool completely.
- Prepare the glaze and drizzle it over the cooled bars before slicing and serving.
