Ingredients

Noodles

  • 8 oz. chow mein noodles

Chow Mein Sauce

  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • ½ teaspoon sugar
  • ½ teaspoon dark soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons water

Other Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 2 oz. chicken, cut into thin strips
  • 6 medium-sized shrimp, shelled and deveined
  • ½ cup cabbage, shredded
  • ¼ cup carrot, shredded
  • 2 stalks scallions, cut into 2-inch strips

Instructions

  1. Soak the chow mein noodles in cold water for about 5 minutes, rinse until the water runs clear, then drain and set aside.
  2. In a small bowl, combine all ingredients for the Chow Mein Sauce and set aside.
  3. Heat oil in a skillet or wok, add garlic and stir-fry until light brown.
  4. Add chicken and shrimp, stir until half cooked, then add cabbage and carrot, stirring quickly.
  5. Incorporate the noodles and soy sauce mixture, stir-fry until well combined and fully cooked.
  6. Add chopped scallions, stir a few more times, then serve hot.
