Ingredients

  • ¾ cup heavy cream
  • ¾ cup favorite red wine
  • Tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 four ounce bars semi-sweet chocolate, coarsely chopped
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Whisk the heavy cream, wine, cocoa powder, and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Simmer for 5-6 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in the chocolate, butter, and salt.
  4. Allow to cool for a few minutes before using as a thin ganache.
  5. For a thicker consistency to frost cakes, refrigerate for a few hours.
  6. Store leftover ganache in the refrigerator for up to 10 days.
