Ingredients

The guacamole

  • 1 large avocado, ripe
  • 1 small garlic clove, microplaned or finely minced
  • 1 tbsp red onion, finely minced
  • ½ lime juiced
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • a pinch black pepper
  • 1-2 tbsp fresh cilantro, chopped

Optional additions

  • 2 tbsp cherry tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp jalapeño pepper, minced

Instructions

  1. Slice the avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a mixing bowl.
  2. Add the garlic, red onion, lime juice, salt, black pepper, and cilantro to the bowl.
  3. Mash the avocado and mix the ingredients with a fork or potato masher to your desired consistency.
  4. Taste and adjust seasoning with more cilantro, lime juice, salt, or pepper as needed, then serve.
