Vanilla Roasted Walnuts

Ingredients

The nuts

  • 2 cups walnuts, raw

The flavorings

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons agave nectar or honey
  • ΒΌ teaspoon celtic sea salt
  • 1-2 units vanilla beans
  • a dash ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. 1. Place walnuts and olive oil in a large cast iron skillet and turn the heat to high.
  2. 2. When you hear a sizzle, reduce the heat to medium or low.
  3. 3. Toast the walnuts for a few minutes until they smell nutty.
  4. 4. Add agave nectar or honey and stir for 1-2 minutes, then add salt.
  5. 5. Scrape the seeds from the vanilla beans and stir them into the walnuts.
  6. 6. Remove the walnuts from the pan and add a dash of cinnamon if desired.
  7. 7. Serve the walnuts.
