The Easiest French Apple Tart

Instructions
- Make the pastry by pulsing flour, sugar, and salt in a food processor, then adding cold butter and pulsing until pea-sized.
- Add ice water and pulse until the mixture is crumbly but holds together when pinched.
- Roll out the dough into a 12- to 13-inch round and fit it into a tart pan, then freeze for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 425°F and prepare the apples by cutting them into thin slices.
- Arrange the apple slices in the tart shell, sprinkle with sugar and dot with cubed butter.
- Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, checking for browning and adjusting the temperature if necessary.
- Make whipped cream by whipping heavy cream, adding confectioner’s sugar and a pinch of salt.
- Serve the tart warm or at room temperature with whipped cream.
