Ingredients

The tofu

  • 1 16-ounce block tofu (firm or extra-firm, drained)

The seasoning

  • to taste salt

Instructions

  1. Wrap the tofu in two layers of paper towels and place it under a heavy skillet for 30 minutes to press out moisture.
  2. After 30 minutes, unwrap the tofu and wrap it again in fresh paper towels, pressing it for another 30 minutes.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 380°F.
  4. Cut the pressed tofu into evenly-sized cubes and pat them dry with paper towels.
  5. Sprinkle salt over all sides of the tofu cubes.
  6. Place the tofu cubes in the air fryer basket in a single layer, avoiding overcrowding.
  7. Lightly spray the tofu with neutral oil and shake the basket to coat the tofu.
  8. Air fry the tofu for 5 minutes, then shake the basket to toss the tofu and check doneness.
  9. Continue air frying in 5-minute increments, shaking the basket each time, until the desired crispiness is achieved.
  10. Once done, carefully remove the tofu from the air fryer and serve immediately or toss in sauce if desired.
