Crispy Fried Pizzas

Ingredients

The dough

  • 1 package pizza dough

The frying

  • as needed oil for frying (vegetable or canola)

The toppings

  • as needed tomato sauce
  • as needed fresh mozzarella cheese
  • as needed fresh basil and/or pesto
  • as needed red pepper flakes
  • as needed Parmesan cheese
  • as needed any other toppings you like

Instructions

  1. Make the pizza dough according to the package directions and let it rise for 45 minutes.
  2. Divide the dough into 6 sections, roll each into a ball, and flatten into a pizza shape.
  3. Heat oil in a large skillet to about 1 inch deep and test readiness with a drop of water.
  4. Fry each pizza for 30 seconds to 1 minute until golden brown, flipping to cook both sides.
  5. Transfer fried pizzas to a paper towel lined pan to cool.
  6. Preheat the oven to 450°F. Top each pizza with sauce, cheese, and desired toppings.
  7. Bake for 5-10 minutes until the cheese is melted, then serve warm.
