Ingredients

The cookie dough

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • ¾ cup packed light brown sugar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • ½ cup Nutella, divided
  • 2 and ⅓ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 and ¼ teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 and ¼ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips, divided

Topping

  • to taste sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C) and prepare baking sheets.
  2. Cream the butter and sugars until fluffy, then mix in the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla.
  3. Add ¼ cup of Nutella and combine.
  4. Whisk together the dry ingredients and mix into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips and the remaining Nutella, mixing until streaked.
  6. Roll the dough into balls and place them on the baking sheets.
  7. Bake for about 10 minutes until the edges are golden brown.
  8. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack.
  9. Optionally, sprinkle with sea salt and press extra chocolate chips on top before cooling completely.
