Honey Wheat Pizza Dough

Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1½-2 cups all purpose flour, divided
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 Tbsp honey
  • 2 tsp yeast
  • 3 Tbsp olive oil
  • tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Combine warm water, honey, and yeast in a bowl and let it sit until frothy.
  2. Stir in olive oil and salt into the yeast mixture.
  3. Mix in one cup of whole wheat flour until combined.
  4. Gradually add all purpose flour, ½ cup at a time, until you can no longer stir.
  5. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead in additional all purpose flour until the dough is stretchy and soft but not sticky.
  6. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise until doubled in size, about 45 minutes.
  7. Shape the dough into a large circle and transfer it to a greased pizza pan.
  8. Press the dough to fit the pan and preheat the oven to 450°F.
  9. Top the pizza and bake for about 15 minutes or until golden brown.
