Instructions
- Preheat a deep-fryer to 375°F or heat vegetable oil in a large skillet for deep frying.
- In a medium bowl, mix flour, cornmeal, garlic, onion powder, cayenne, and white pepper.
- In another medium bowl, whisk together buttermilk and egg.
- Dip pickles in the buttermilk mixture, then coat with the cornmeal-flour mixture.
- Fry the pickles in batches, avoiding overcrowding the pan.
- Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 1-2 minutes.
- Remove from oil and drain on paper towels without stacking.
- Serve warm to maintain crispness.
